Digital transformation, a term introduced to talk about the various changes in business and society due to the increased usage of digital technologies, has recently gained much attention both in research and in practice. However, an analysis of 41 digital transformation frameworks following a developmental literature review shows that several areas can be expanded upon. We propose a novel framework that deals with the underrepresented areas by consolidating the various concepts found in the literature, explicitly including the role of society, highlighting the evolution over time, and including the drivers of digital transformation that we classified into 23 ‘digital transformation interactions’ across six categories. This novel perspective contributes to our macro-understanding of digital transformation and can be used as a lens for further research to generate fresh insights into unanswered research avenues. Ultimately, this paper can be the first step towards a unified understanding of digital transformation.
Decisions are of significant value to organisations. Business decisions are often written down in textual documents, and modelling them is a tedious and time-consuming task. Although decision modelling has seen a surge of interest since the introduction of the Decision Model and Notation (DMN) standard, limited research has been conducted regarding automatically extracting decision models from the text. In this paper, we propose a text mining technique to automatically extract the decisions and their dependencies from natural language text to build the decision requirements diagram. A case-based evaluation is shown for the proposed mining approach with promising results. This approach can serve as a groundwork for further research in the field of decision automation.
Online food delivery services have seen a surge in interest in recent years. Although these service providers claim significant benefits for restaurants, the actual impact of joining a delivery service on the restaurant's financial performance has been understudied. In this paper, we gathered financial data of 49 Belgian restaurants that joined Deliveroo between 2010 and 2018. We compared the financial performance before and after joining based on profitability, solvency, and liquidity. The results indicate a significant performance increase for restaurants joining Deliveroo regarding liquidity. The benefits are less outspoken for profitability and solvency.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
