This paper presents some aspects of the Internet of Things (IoT) and attacks to which IoT may be exposed, above all, the man-in-the-middle (MITM) attack. After a short introduction, which describes the essence of the IoT and the MITM attack, used scientific methods and hypotheses are presented. The next chapters show the technology of MITM attacks and benefits that a successful attack provides to attackers. Here are presented also some of the most important examples of such attacks, which had a wider scope or significant impact on the Internet community. This part of the article ends by analyzing the possibilities of protection of IoT against MITM attacks. In the continuation, based on data available, an analysis of MITM attacks is given from an economic point of view. The conclusions show a summary of the entire analysis with assumptions of the future development of these issues.
The purpose of this paper is to present the development of a qualitative approach to environmental risk assessment (QAERA) in transport. The approach is described as a model developed for the future software tool which will be utilizable as a risk decision support system. The basic part is aimed on developing a quantitative environmental risk assessment. Thus, this paper describes a set of 6 pillars of safety and security. Accordingly, the paper contains both chosen safety and security indicators and selected criteria for assessing the risk of launching the environmental change of global model thinking in the transport sector. The environmental risk assessment as a global model of thinking was originally based on historical experience but, nowadays, it is changing. Based on new expert knowledge, more precisely, on input of new global data, paper displays an environmental risk assessment with actual interpretation. The discussion of the paper is oriented to support research results, a new knowledge-oriented approach to global climate changes, using suitable risk assessment methods and technics. The result of the paper is a new approach for the modeling of environmental risk assessment in the transport sector.
The system approach to solving problems of information security, proposed in this work provides for the integration of mathematical models of the processing and protection of information. This model connects invulnerability and flexibility for each of three aspects of security (confidentiality, availability and integrity) of information based on structural unification of these contradictions. The method of modeling the security policy (SP) to provide a highly reliable information processing (HRIP) has been developed. This method differs by using a new problem-based graph-theoretic unit of standard model of the protected automated system for connection flexibility the discretionary model with the principled security of models of the final states of the SP. The mathematical models of synthesis of policy safe interaction of information processes, allowing SP to consider separately the various structural components of network with the ability to its further interlinkages have been developed. Using the new mathematical models of flexible reliability, availability, confidentiality and integrity of information processed, allowing mathematically describe the mechanisms to ensure the availability and confidentiality of the information and take into account the quantitative requirements for data integrity.
This paper represents results of an examination of the current situation in the field of digitization of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises through presenting a new-created digitalization index (IDSME). It points out that it is possible to create a specific, purposeful index that will give a realistic view on the degree of digitalization in each individual micro, small and medium-sized company. The research relies on well-known indexes of digitization of economy and society used at the level of the world's leading organizations, the European Commission and world-renowned institutes. For the needs of this analysis, the authors have tested their digitization index on a sample of 226 companies from Serbia, Slovakia, and Russia. This analysis, using the IDSME index, was carried out based on research questions and corresponding hypotheses. The authors analyzed, in particular, the mutual relationship between the two of four dimensions of the IDSME index -the Integration of digital technologies in SMEs and the Connection to the Internet in a manner defined by the IDSME model. At the end of the paper, the authors present the conclusions reached during this research, along with the suggestions for the continuation of the research initiated in Milanka Bogavac dissertation.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
