The number of registered commercial freight vehicles is constantly increasing, increasing therefore as well the traffic load on the roads in Bosnia and Herzegovina. A significant part of freight vehicles moving along the main and regional roads are overloaded and cause significant damage to road infrastructure, affect road safety and result in an increase of emissions of harmful gases for people and the environment. The overloading rate is extremely high, in particular with 5-axle trucks representing 58.7%. The research showed that the increased overload level ranges from 10-20% of the maximum permissible weight. The importance of load limits was recognized early in the history of road development. This interrelation led directly to limitations on vehicle loads, and laws were enacted in many countries to establish the maximum allowable motor vehicle sizes and weights. Strict enforcement of motor vehicle size and weight laws is a step toward reducing motor vehicle size and weight violations, heavy truck accidents, and, even more, improving road maintenance, rehabilitation expenditures and road safety. Thus, based on the applied model the objective of this paper is to evaluate and optimize the locations of truck weigh stations on the road network of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
This paper presents a concrete road safety inspec on of intersec on on the primary road (major road) M4 in the place Vrbanja near Banja Luka. The said intersec on is where the major road and access road to newly constructed cemetery in Banjaluka intersect. The use of seat belts, for drivers and car occupants, results in reducing the rate of fatalities and severe road injuries. In this research, the methodology of the survey was applied through the self-reporting behaviour of the respondents who determined the subjective risk based on the attitudes of the traffic participants. To evaluate the statistical significance of the categorical variables, Pearson's chi-square test was used. For certain groups of examinees, the results of the relationship (association) between socio demographic characteristics were analysed as predictors of behaviour with the degree of seat belt use. Some other predictors of behaviour, such as the road and mood predictors were analysed as well. Interest was also focused on finding out what motivated certain groups of examinees to use the seat belt. Based on the results of this research, it is possible to classify the drivers and car occupants into certain groups with respect to the seat belt use while driving. This can help in determining the ways of eliminating problems related to the low degree of seat belt use.
Transport system has multiple interactions and multidimensional effects on the environment, by way of, amongst other, land acquisition and urban pollution; on economic development with regard to the GDP growth; as well as on social equity in terms of access, quality of life and health of population. This paper considers the possibility of introducing toll collection in the Republic of Srpska. The goal of the developed model is to increase revenue, which could be directed to the sustainable development of transport in the Republic of Srpska. The selection of a toll collection system has been made taking account of: economic, traffic, technical, organizational and exploitation criteria. Multiple-criteria approach has been applied together with the Analytic Hierarchy Process.
The paper gives an overview of the model of organization in the management of public urban passenger transport systems (JGTP), which are applied in world cities as well as in some cities in the region. These are complex systems with components of economic, technical, technological and organizational nature, as well as elements of planning, arrangement and organization of space and impact on the environment and its protection, at the same time, as a public service, it is a specific network of various organizational and spatial entities. Systems are open transport systems with stochastic state change.
