This study aims to examine the challenges and obstacles faced in using WhatsApp as an online Arabic learning center and efforts to overcome them. The data from this qualitative study were obtained from observations of 71 students and 2 Arabic language teachers. The data was then validated and strengthened by interviews with 5 students and 2 Arabic language teachers. The results of this study show that the challenges and obstacles in using WhatsApp as an online Arabic learning center do not only come from students, student guardians, and teachers but can also come from the limitations of the WhatsApp application itself such as the maximum file size limit that can be sent and the record button prone to be canceled. In overcoming the existing obstacles, the teacher converts the files to be sent first, lowers the level of questions in assignments, pays attention to the accuracy of students' answers in doing assignments, and collaborates the use of WhatsApp with Google Drive and Instagram. Finally, by looking at the role of the WhatsApp application in the current learning process, the researcher hopes that the WhatsApp application developer will consider to provide WhatsApp for Education like WhatsApp for Business which has existed for a long time.
This study is expected to minimize the stigma attached to the students’ minds about the complexity in the structure and grammar of Arabic, as well as the difficulty of finding the Arabic equivalent in Indonesian. These difficulties can be resolved through psycholinguistic understanding. This study tried to describe solutions to problems in learning Arabic as a second language based on a psycholinguistic perspective. This article offers three principles that guide successful language learning. They are principles of education, psychology, and linguistics. This study used a qualitative method with a library research. The main references included books, journals, articles, proceedings, and researches related to the role of psycholinguistics in Arabic learning. The results of psycholinguistic studies are widely used to understand students’ second-language learning in formal education. The scope of psycholinguistics has proven to be very beneficial for language learning.
Each method has different function and characteristic. One method is not enough to achieve four language skills in Arabic language learning. We need a method that is able to accommodate the weaknesses of the previous method. This research aimed to examine the implementation of eclectic method based on all in one system approach. This method integrates the various methods in language teaching and achieves four language skills. This research provided a new model to implementation the methods, specifically eclectic method and their connection with Arabic language skills. The method used in this research was qualitative method based on text analysis. The data research was collected from sources of books, journal articles, or matters relating to the topic of this study. The result of this research was the use of an eclectic method based on all in one system approach (integrated approach) which can facilitate Arabic language teaching. A language teacher needs to consider this method for students. This research also examined the various aspects and how they could be useful for teacher in Arabic language classroom. The study provided further support for the use of eclectic method for student in mastering four Arabic language skills.
Purpose - This study aims to determine the implementation of the extracurricular mumārasah program at MA Ali Maksum and the extent to which the extracurricular mumārasah in improving Arabic speaking skills. Design/methodology/approach - This research is quantitative descriptive. To collect data, researchers used a questionnaire. To test the effectiveness of mumārasah extracurricular, the authors used pre-test and post-test tests. Findings - The study results indicate that implementing extracurricular activities for mumārasah runs with a learning model using direct methods, small group discussions, role-playing, memorizing dialogue, role-playing, and group conversations. However, the extracurricular implementation is considered ineffective due to several factors, such as the unformed lughāwiyyah and the low discipline level. The mumārasah extracurricular effectiveness test results in improving students' Arabic speaking skills proved effective with a significant increase, namely, 3.388. Originality/value - Extracurricular mumārasah teacher also expected to make rules or agreements discipline with students in class individual, so that students are more disciplined and follow classes with regular. To measure the achievement of students' competence in Arabic in accordance with predetermined competency standards, it is necessary to assess the learning outcomes of students. The accuracy of the assessment of learning outcomes has a very significant impact on efforts to improve the quality of education in schools, so the quality of tests as an evaluation tool really needs to be considered. This study aims to determine the quality of the daily test items in Arabic for SD Muhammadiyah Sidoarum Yogyakarta. This research is a quantitative research. Data analysis using the excel application program AnBuSo (Questionnaire Analysis) version 5.0. The results showed that the process of arranging the Arabic questions was not good, because the teacher did not pay attention to the stages used in the preparation of the questions so that the difference between the questions and the difficulty level of the questions was not balanced.
