Evaluating patient progress and making discharge decisions regarding inpatient medical rehabilitation rely upon standard clinical assessments administered by trained clinicians. Wearable inertial sensors can offer more objective measures of patient movement and progress. We undertook a study to investigate the contribution of wearable sensor data to predict discharge functional independence measure (FIM) scores for 20 patients at an inpatient rehabilitation facility. The FIM utilizes a 7-point ordinal scale to measure patient independence while performing several activities of daily living, such as walking, grooming, and bathing. Wearable inertial sensor data were collected from ecological ambulatory tasks at two time points mid-stay during inpatient rehabilitation. Machine learning algorithms were trained with sensor-derived features and clinical information obtained from medical records at admission to the inpatient facility. While models trained only with clinical features predicted discharge scores well, we were able to achieve an even higher level of prediction accuracy when also including the wearable sensor-derived features. Correlations as high as 0.97 for leave-one-out cross validation predicting discharge FIM motor scores are reported.
The article describes long term possibilities for participation in domestic machine engineering in major economic projects. The basic relationships between economic, institutional, and technological factors of regional development are identified. Some ideas are proposed for the substantiation of innovative develop ment programs for the Arctic Zone of the Russian Federation.
Within the rent-and-raw material model of Russian economy the state's attempts to stimulate import substitution do not generate innovative type of economic development and rebuilding of its industrial sector, competitiveness on the domestic market. In high entropy of market processes it becomes obvious that without recovery of effective global production chains in Russian economy the risks of economic and geopolitical security of Russia, the final loss of Russian technological identity, the loss of international competitiveness and securing raw material vector of long-term social and economic development are increasing. Therefore, it is machine building, as an industry, being a member of most production chains must become a driver of import substitution. Innovative development of machine building is especially in demand in such industrialized region as Kuzbass. Its major industries-coal, metallurgical, chemical-are in need of machinery products. The article describes the features and tools of machine building innovative development.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
