The current literature is not comprehensive concerning the influence of Bacillus subtilis on lipid metabolism, egg chemical characteristics, and intestinal microbiota of Japanese quail. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of a Bacillus subtilis strain on yolk quality, gut bacterial populations, and total cholesterol and triglyceride concentrations in the plasma of organically farmed Pharaon quail layers. Forty-five-day-old female quails were randomly distributed into four groups of 10 birds each: a no-treatment control group and three test groups receiving powder of Bacillus subtilis DSM 32424 at a minimum rate of 1 × 106 colony forming units per gram, dissolved in drinking water at doses of 50, 75 and 100 mg per kg body weight, daily during 30 days. The use of the probiotic at doses of 50 and 100 mg resulted in significantly reduced faecal staphylococci count on day 30 (P<0.05), while no significant changes were detected in lactobacilli or coliform bacteria. This study gives the first evidence of the influence of Bacillus subtilis on acid value and carotenoid levels in egg yolks laid by quails. Carotenoids were significantly elevated in the 75 mg group on day 30 (P<0.05), but significantly decreased in the 50 and 100 mg groups (P<0.05). Acidity, triglyceride and total cholesterol concentrations in quail serum were not affected significantly by the treatment throughout the study, though their values were reduced. The inclusion of Bacillus subtilis DSM 32424 in drinking water for laying Pharaon quails inhibited faecal staphylococci proliferation and enhanced yolk carotenoid content. Therefore, it can be proposed that including this probiotic in laying quail diets may have beneficial outcomes for both layers and the second generation.
The paper demonstrates the results on the effect of new specimen Vetom 20.76 on concentration of leukocytes in the blood of geese on the basis of the predatory fungus Artusbotus oligospora. In order to achieve the goal of the experiment, one control group and six experimental groups were arranged on the principle of paired analogues. Each group contained 10 geese aged 1 month. The geese from the experimental groups received Vetom 20.76 in different doses in the morning with water once a day: the geese of the 1st experimental group - dose of 0.5 ppm/kg of live weight during 15 days; 2nd experimental group - 1 ppm/kg of live weight during 15 days; 3rd experimental group - 2 ppm/kg of live weight during 15 days, 4th experimental group - 0.5 ppm/kg live weight during 30 days, 5th experimental group - 1 ppm/kg live weight during 30 days and 6th - 2 ppm/kg live weight during 30 days. The geese of control group didn’t receive the specimen. The concentration of leukocytes in the blood of experimental geese increases in the period of specimen application as well as in the period of its aftereffect. If Vetom 20.76 is prescribed for 15 days, the effect of leukopoiesis stimulation finishes on the 30th day. If the specimen is applied during 30 days, the leukocytes in the blood continue to increase up to the 60th day. This long-term application of Vetom 20.76 dosed 0.5ppm/kg increases leucocytes within the physiological norm. Application of higher doses (1 and 2 ppm/kg) the leukocyte concentration conforms to the physiological norm
The effect of the probiotic preparation Vetom 1.2 on the basis of Bacillus subtilis VKPM B-10641, Bacillus amyloliquefaciens VKPM B-10642 and Bacillus amyloliquefaciens VKPM B-10643 in different doses on the correlation interactions between the parameters of turkey hemoglobin exchange, blood erythrocytes and blood red blood cells direct and total bilirubin, total protein and serum albumin was studies. Correlations were calculated using Spearman formula, the reliability of correlations was checked by Student. The formulation was used for turkeys once a day for 30 days in doses of 12.5; 25; fifty; 75 and 100 mg / kg body weight. It was found that Vetom 1.2 in minimal doses leads to an inverse correlation between iron and total bilirubin, direct bilirubin, total protein and albumin, an increase in the concentration of the formulation leads to the disappearance of this effect with a gradual subsequent decrease in this indicator. Vetom 1.2 in doses up to 50 mg / kg leads to an inverse correlation between the concentrations of hemoglobin and direct bilirubin, total protein and serum albumin, at a dose of 75 mg / kg there is a direct correlation between these indicators, and at a dose of 100 mg / kg returns a negative correlation. The probiotic preparation Vetom 1.2 leads to a direct dependence of the concentration of bilirubins (total and direct) in serum on the concentrations of hemoglobin and red blood cells when used in most doses, except 75 mg / kg, which reduces the correlation.
The authors investigated the effect of probiotic Vetom 1 based on Bacillus subtilis strain DSM 32424 with concentration of active component 106 CFU/g on cumulative indices of Japanese quail egg-laying. The specimen was applied in doses of 50, 75 and 100 mg/kg of the live weight of quails. The probiotic Vetom 1 increases the number of ovulating birds. The maximum increase in this indicator was observed when using Vetom 1 dosed as 50 mg/kg of the body weight. The egg mass variability depends completely on the dose. Being used in a dose of 50 mg/kg weight, a higher variability of the egg mass was observed. This pattern has not been recorded in the maximum studied dose. The cumulative function in terms of eggs in unit and mass equivalents is slightly expressed in the initial period when applying Vetom 1. In the final period of specimen applying, the highest accumulation is observed when using Vetom 1 in a dose of 50 mg/kg of mass. When applying Vetom 1 in doses of 75 and 100 mg/kg, a direct correlation between ovulation frequency and egg weight was observed only in the initial period of the specimen applying, and the dose of 50 mg/kg - only for the eighth day of it.
The comparative effect of the combined drugs Feliferon and Azoksivet and the drug Globfel-4 for rhinotracheitis in felines on hematological parameters of white blood was studied. In our study on the treatment of viral rhinotracheitis, 16 cats were examined. During the experiment, all cats showed the following clinical signs: lethargy, fever, leakage from the eyes and nasal passages. The animals were kept in separate cages in accordance with the European Convention for the Protection of Vertebrates. The control group was given 1 ml subcutaneously, once a day every other day, with a course of 7 injections, immunoglobulin against rhinotracheitis, calicivirus and chlamydia - Globfel-4. The experimental group was treated with drugs Azoxivet intramuscularly in a course of 7 injections, once a day every other day, and Feliferon at a dose of 400,000 IU intramuscularly, once a day. The course of treatment was 7 days. Blood sampling was performed from the anterior saphenous vein of the forearm before and after therapy. The concentration of erythrocytes and hemoglobin was determined on an automatic hematology analyzer Mindray BC-2800. When treating cats with rhinotracheitis with Globfel-4, pronounced leukocytosis, absolute and relative lymphocytosis were noted. With the combined use of Azoxivet and Feliferon, these blood changes do not occur. When treating cats with rhinotracheitis with Globfel-4 or the combined use of Azoxivet and Feliferon, the absolute concentrations of monocytes and granulocytes increase within the physiological norm. The relative concentrations of these white blood phrases increase within the physiological norm only with the combined use of Azoxivet and Feliferon.
