The structure of V, and D, centres in KBr and KBr:Sr crystals X-rayed at 80 K is studied by optical methods. The molecular ion Br; situated in two anion and one cation lattice sites is shown to be the basic entity of the structure of these centres. The creation mechanism of such Br; centres via interaction of H centres is discussed. It is ~sumed that the interaction of two H centres leads to the local reconstruction of the lattice. The occurrence of one particular process of this kind resulting in a new anion Frenkel pair near a cation vacancy is demonstrated.KBr:Sr, 0 6 n y s e n~~x pemreHoBcKHMH nyqa~u n p~ 80 K. no~caaa~o, ¶TO OCHOBOP
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
