This study examined the protective effects of ginger and processed (Beopje) ginger extracts on gastritis induced by HCl-ethanol in SD-rats. Beopje (or Poje) is a branch of herbal medicines processed using a Korean traditional method to achieve specific pharmacological effects. Gastric lesions were induced in the rats by a treatment of 1 mL of HCl-ethanol (60% ethanol+150 mM HCl). The rats were divided into seven groups: Normal (1 mL of saline without HCl-ethanol treated group), Control (HCl-ethanol treated group), GL (35 mg/kg of ginger treated group), BGL (35 mg/kg of Beopje ginger treated group), GH (350 mg/kg of ginger treated group), BGH (350 mg/kg of Beopje ginger treated group) and Cimetidine (80 mg/kg of cimetidine treated group). The gastric injury inhibition rate was 40.2% and 64.9% in GL and BGL and 68.4% and 99.6% in GH and BGH respectively, showing significantly lower rates than the control (p<0.05). The level of gastric juice secretion decreased significantly in all ginger administered groups. The pH of the gastric juices of BGH increased and the acidity of BGH and cimetidine decreased significantly (p<0.05) compared to the other groups. Beopje ginger had stronger inhibitory effects on gastritis than ginger without the Beopje process. The protective effect on gastritis by the ginger and Beopje ginger extracts increased in a dose-dependent manner (p<0.05). These results suggest that ginger has inhibitory effects on HCl-ethanol induced gastritis in rats that can be improved through the Beopje process.
This work demonstrates the indoor SI-traceable calibration of a transmissometer with a 75-m baseline for the measurement of visibility in MOR (Meteorological Optical Range). The calibration is performed using a set of neutral density (ND) filters (OD 0.1-2.5) and a set of high-transmission quartz glass plates (a bare quartz glass plate and antireflective-coated quartz glass plates), the collection consisting of 20 artifacts in total. The luminous transmittance values of the reference artifacts had been calibrated traceable to the KRISS spectral transmittance scale, which ranges from 0.2 % to 99.5 %. The transmissometer to be calibrated typically consists of a loosely collimated light source based on a white LED (CCT ~5000 K) and a luminous intensity detector with a CIE 1924 V(λ ) spectral response. As a result of calibration, we obtained the MOR error and its uncertainty for the transmissometer in 20 m -40 km of MOR. Based on the results, we investigated the applicability of the calibration method and the conformity of the transmissometer to the ICAO's (International Civil Aviation Organization) accuracy requirement for meteorological visibility measurement. We expect that this work will establish the standard procedure for the SI-traceable calibration of a transmissometer.
: Many Koreans have the question about the price of food: whether the price of Korean food is reasonable or not? Even though some previous studies tried to discuss and analyze the price system of Korean food, few papers clearly present the implication about production cost or marketing margin of processing food. The purpose of this paper is to measure and analyze the production cost and marketing margin of tofu and kimchi, which are one of the main food in Korea, through the raw-data of FIS, KAMIS, and other data from Korean business area. The results of studies present a few findings as follows: First, the proportion of labor cost in the production cost is very important factor and need to be decreased for the lower consumer price. Especially, the lower proportion of labor cost in kimchi industry should be important issue, even though the reduction of proportion of labor cost in kimchi industry is not easy in the real world. Second, each marketing channel of processed food shows different marketing margin. Therefore, Korean government need to increase the level of competition of marketing channels, which makes each business is forced to decrease the marketing margin to survive the market competition in Korea.
-Unlike commercial LTE network, LTE-R railway network is arranged along a railroad track and the base stations of the network (RUs) are also installed on the waysides. For urban railway systems that are composed of underground tunnels, the leakage coaxial cables are widely used due to the radio propagation characteristics in tunnels. In theory, the tunnel sections are interpreted as the waveguide with blank spaces and for this reason, the tunnel sections are expected to be better than open ground sections in terms of the radio propagation characteristics. In this paper, we analyze the radio propagation characteristics based on this theory by replacing the leakage coaxial cables in the network with Yagi antennas. The test has been carried out in the 2.2km tunnel in the Daebul test track of KORAIL with 2.6GHz LTE-R Network. The LTE-R applicability in urban railways has been tested through the analysis on the radio propagation characteristics with the unmanned train operation system in Daebul tunnel.
