Results showed that the higher the viscosity of O/W emulsions was as the lower the HLB value of emulsifier and emulsion particle showed a tendency to be a smaller and compact and stabler in centrifugal filtration. W/S emulsions also showed a similar tendency to be a smaller and compact as HLB values of emulsifier was higher and stabler in centrifugal filtration. However, the viscosity of W/S emulsion tended to get lower in HLB conditions of all emulsifiers as the time passed. This indicated that the emulsions had an unstable feature in long-term stability. In conclusion, the results showed opposite to the known theory that O/W emulsion is proper to be applied by nonionic surfactant with a high HLB value and W/S emulsion to be applied by nonionic surfactant with a low HLB value and provide useful information for the cosmetics research and related areas.
Once powder base makeup products are applied to the skin, the products are formed a film and attached on the skin for 8 to 12 hours. The makeup film is deformed by secretions such as sweat and sebum secreted from the skin. Thus, durability of the film is an important quality factor in the makeup and its evaluation is also important. In this study, characteristics of the semi-finished powder products such as water absorption, oil absorption, water repellent and oil repellent were evaluated in a number of ways. Also, simple methods, which are not affected by evaluation conditions such as a difference between sweat and sebum secretion, temperature and humidity, were examined to predict the durability of the products. We measured water absorption, oil absorption, water repellent and oil-repellent properties of semifinished product by tablet, capillary and dipping method and then compared with the data of color difference meter and ROBO skin analyzer. Results showed that the durability of powder base makeup products was associated with more oil absorption and water-repellent characteristics than water absorption and oil-repellent. Oil absorption characteristics by tablet and capillary method and water-repellent characteristics by dipping method provides a simple and quick method to precdict the durability of the makeup products.
The study was carried out to investigate the effects of chitosan-adding (0.5-1.5%) on nitrite-reduced (30 ppm) and sodium lactate-reduced (0-2%) sausages to avoid using excessively sodium lacte, which is substituted for sodium nitrite, The number of 24 rats for blood properties were used in this experiment and raised for 1-4 weeks. The color of sausages showed significant differences each treatment (p<0.05) and a* (redness) had the highest value in control (nitrite 100 ppm) and b* (yellowness) had the lowest value in T3 (nitrite 30 ppm + sodium lactate 0% + chitosan 1.5%). There were not significant differences in pH (5.53-5.66) and water holding capacity (66.06-69.75%) between control and two treatments (T1, nitrite 30 ppm + sodium lactate 2% + chitosan 0.5%; T2, nitrite 30 ppm +sodium lactate 1% + chitosan 1%), but T3 had significant differences in pH (5.06) and water holding capacity (62.44%), respectively. Springiness, cohesiveness, chewness and adhesiveness in texture analysis had not significant differences between control and three treatments, but hardness and gumminess had lower values in control than in three treatments. Appearance and color in sensory evaluation had higher values in control than in T1, but texture and flavor had lower values than in three treatments. Microbial counts had not significant differences in control, T2 and T3 for 1 week, for 3 weeks, it showed the lowest value in control than in three treatments. Anti-oxidant activity (TBARS) in sausages were more effective in control (p<0.05). The body weigh gain of rat were significantly increased in three treatments and also neutral fat, total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol were significantly decreased in three treatments. However, T1 treatment had higher blood glucose content and significantly decreased in HDL-cholesterol, compared with control, but T2 and T3 treatments showed similar results in body weight gain and blood properties. So, through the addition of chitosan, it's possible to manufacture nitrite-reduced and sodium lactate-reduced sausage which is supplemented its function.
Lip make-up products can be easily taken into body with food. For this reason, those products are requires to meet lots of qualifications compared with other cosmetic products. In addition, concerns about safety on synthesized tar pigments is constantly issued. Thus, demand of natural pigments is gradually increased and many kinds of natural pigments have been developed. However, there are some problems when natural pigments are applied to cometic products instead of synthetic ones. There is a reason that most of natural pigments consist of hydrophilic materials of sort of anthocyanin, but the existing lip make-up products is anhydrous oil dispersion type without water consisting oil and wax. Therefore, when watersoluble natural pigments are applied to anhydrous lip make-up products, color expression is lower and phase separation occurs due to the instability of the product. In addition, natural pigments have disadvantages that they can easily change by pH, heat and sunlight. There are troubles of stability because it is not easy to adjust for these factors in case of anhydrous forms. Aim of study is to develop lip make-up products which have not only safe to human but being high in expression of color by using natural pigments and securing stability of colorant as natural pigments are offered to polyol in oil emulsion. Then, lip make-up products which have heavy 1) † 주 저자 이동원⋅김영호⋅정은지⋅이상길⋅표형배 대한화장품학회지, 제 39권 제 1 호, 2013 moisture while having not dryness that is created when the moisture evaporates are developed.
