“…It requires that signal and pump have orthogonal polarizations, and it generates a narrow gain region about 30 nm away from the pump. Because of the high dispersion, its location depends only on λ p and its bandwidth remains constant while tuning λ p over the C and Lbands [5]. Using a pulsed pump with peak power above 30 W in a 2.9 m-long Bi-HNLF, we measured …”

“…The pump is phase-modulated by a 3 Gb/s PRBS to suppress SBS and amplified to 4.5 W to get an injected pump power of 2.5 W. Three tunable lasers, intensitymodulated at 10 Gb/s, with wavelengths 1530.2 nm, 1531 nm and 1531.8 nm are used as WDM channels 1, 2 and 3. The correct locations of pump and signal polarizations were obtained by first maximizing the SBS power when no phase modulation is applied on the pump, and then optimizing the idler power in the OPA configuration [5]. λ p was set at 1558.8 nm, 1559.7 nm or 1560.5 nm, to select channel 1, 2 or 3, respectively.…”
