3-Methylindole-Based Tripodal Tetraphosphine Ruthenium Complexes in N2 Coordination and Reduction and Formic Acid Dehydrogenation

Abstract: Abstract:The ruthenium(II) complexes RuCl 2 L1 H , RuCl 2 L1 CF3 , RuCl 2 L1 OMe and RuCl 2 L2 H were synthesized from [Ru(η 6 -benzene)Cl(µ-Cl)] 2 and the corresponding tripodal tris-3-methylindolephosphine-based ligands L1 H , L1 CF3 , L1 OMe , and L2 H . Stoichiometric reduction of these complexes with KC 8 yielded the corresponding ruthenium(0) dinitrogen complexes. The latter complexes were studied in the N 2 reduction with chlorosilanes and KC 8 , yielding stoichiometric amounts of the silylamines. The s… Show more

“…The work by van de Watering, Heijtebrink, van der Vlugt, Dzik, de Bruin and Reek describes the coordination chemistry of a series of tripodal tetraphosphane ligands (tris-(3-methylindolephosphane)phosphanes = PP 3 ) with ruthenium(II) [27]. The reduction of these species under an N 2 atmosphere led to isolable Ru-N 2 complexes.…”
