36‐2: Magnetically Written Electrophoretic Display

Abstract: A flexible, reflective, magneto‐electrophoretic e‐paper display technology (MEP) has been developed and demonstrated that can be written and drawn on using a variety of magnetic styli with similar form factors to those of pencils, pens, and wide‐tipped markers. Because this is direct writing of the stylus onto the electronic ink layer, no TFT backplane or touch panel is needed, resulting in significantly reduced costs and minimal writing lag.
