Abstract: A few case reports describe an association of airway obstruction due to lingual tonsillar hypertrophy in patients with thalassemia. We present an eight-yearold boy with a history of delta-beta-thalassemia and recurring lingual tonsillar hypertrophy. We hypothesize that this could be the result of extramedullary hematopoiesis.
