4.4: Invited Paper: Low Cost Dual-Select-Diode AMLCD Technology

Abstract: An alternative Active Matrix backplane technology for LCDs has been developed with performance comparable to TFT LCDs and compatible with TN, MVA and IPS modes. The Dual Select Diode AMLCD requires two or three active array mask steps, leading to 20 % reduction in panel cost and 60 % reduction in capital investment. 4 inch prototypes with 320×320 pixels are presented.
