The construction industry is one of the most hazardous industries, with a high number of working injuries and fatalities. A special issue for occupational accidents in the construction industry is the use of scaffolds, which is usually attributed to falls from height. Research and practice have demonstrated that decisions made upstream from the construction site can influence construction worker safety. Therefore, it is crucial to assess the risk levels for different construction stages on scaffolding, with various work trades, aiming to prevent the occurrence of fall accidents. The use of new techniques and methodologies, such as Building Information Modeling (BIM), is of major importance. The growing implementation of BIM in Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) is changing the way safety can be approached. This study reviews the existing literature about BIM and construction safety on scaffolding, to explore useful findings and detect knowledge gaps for future research. Despite the enormous evolution of research and technological innovations based on BIM for construction safety, there is still a flagrant lack of knowledge and solutions for identifying hazards related to construction on scaffolding.

The railway station is a primary asset of public transport systems and plays a crucial role in urban modernization. Most existing railway stations in the UK is historic and have been operated for many years. Maintenance and reconstruction are common concerns in the public railway industry, and clusters of information pertaining to this maintenance must be managed appropriately for effective outcome. Digital twin or BIM (Building information modeling) is a term frequently employed in the construction industry nowadays, because of its ability to provide wider and faster access to comprehensible and integrated information. A digital twin or a BIM is not only a tool, but also a process that can help to make changes in construction industry, which has remained unchanged for hundreds of years. This paper discusses a specific BIM application within the context of railway station buildings using a Revit-based simulation of construction work for King's Cross station in London. The paper highlights the adoption and transformation of 3D model of the King's Cross station building into a 6D building information model. The 6D model contains a time and cost schedule with carbon emissions calculation, and renovation assumptions using Revit. The outcome of this study can provide construction participants with reasonable guidance of BIM adoption on railway station projects that can be used for planning, designing, and operating an economic and environmental efficient construction project.

ResumenEl principal objetivo de esta investigación es presentar evidencia del uso e impacto de modelos nD como herramienta para la dirección de proyectos en la industria de la arquitectura, la ingeniería y la construcción, para lo cual se ha realizado una revisión bibliográfica sobre el tema. La industria de la arquitectura, ingeniería y construcción ha sufrido cambios, innovaciones y avances en pos de optimizar proyectos pertenecientes al rubro. En este contexto, las tecnologías de información se han ido incorporando al desarrollo de este tipo de obras. Sin embargo, se desconoce el uso e impacto real que estas herramientas entregan en cada una de las áreas de conocimiento en la dirección de proyectos. Dentro de los resultados principales se tiene que al implementar estos modelos se produce un impacto directo e indirecto en la gran mayoría de los procesos de dirección de proyectos y con mayor énfasis en las áreas tiempo, costos e clientes. The architecture, engineering and construction industry has undergone changes, innovations and advances to optimize projects belonging to the field. In this context, information technologies have been incorporated into the development of this type of works. However, the use and real impact that these tools contribute to each of the areas of knowledge in project management is unknown. Among the main results, the implementation of these models has a direct e indirect impact on the great majority of project management processes, with a greater emphasis on time, cost and stakeholders.
