4D Cubism: Modeling, Animation, and Fabrication of Artistic Shapes

Abstract: This article deals with creating artistic shapes in a cubist style. The authors propose adding cubist features to (or cubification of) time-variant sculptural shapes. A new concept of a 4D cubist camera is introduced for multiple projections from 4D space-time to 3D space, and 3D printing for stop-motion animation is applied.

“…16 demonstrates a 3D metamorphosis between two heterogeneous objects that are a combination of the HFRep and SDF defined objects [52]. This example served as one of tests for the '4D Cubism' project [70]. The input and target objects are two SDF cubes spaced from each other.…”

“…Cubism has appeared since the early 20th century. Since then, several attempts have tried to describe [Henderson 1983] and generate Cubist art [Corker-Marin et al 2018;Wang et al 2011], but more efforts still required to offer scientific explanations to a wide variety of Cubist art. Our cubic stylization only focuses on a specific style.…”

“…For example, if you process 10 pet specimens per day, the annual profit can reach more than one million yuan, and the benefits are extremely impressive. The artistic design of pet specimens is the first step of this project [7]. By reviewing the relevant materials of animal anatomy and animal art modeling, we can understand the skeletal characteristics and morphological characteristics of animals, so that the animal specimens produced are more vivid and more artistic, and break through the traditional concept of animal specimens in the past, so that the specimens are not It is only a lifeless research product, but a "living" artwork [8].…”
