5-Channel Polymer/Silica Hybrid Arrayed Waveguide Grating

Abstract: A 5-channel polymer/silica hybrid arrayed waveguide grating (AWG), fabricated through a simple and low-cost microfabrication process is proposed, which covers the entire O-band (1260–1360 nm) of the optical communication wavelength system. According to the simulation results, the insertion loss is lower than 4.7 dB and the crosstalk within 3-dB bandwidth is lower than ~−28 dB. The actual fiber–fiber insertion loss is lower than 14.0 dB, and the crosstalk of the 5 channels is less than −13.0 dB. The demonstrate… Show more

“…For analyzing the performances of our presented multi SW wavelength demultiplexer, crosstalk (Equation (8)) [ 27 ] and loss (Equation (9)) were calculated to observe the ratio between a desirable and undesirable operated wavelength in a given port and the power losses respectively. where P n is the power transmission for the suitable n-port, and P m is the interference power transmission from the other ports.…”

“…Gratings are widely used in many fields due to their special periodic structure. [1][2][3] With its unique characteristics of beam splitting, polarization, dispersion, absorption, and phase matching, gratings occupy an important position in optical communications, [4,5] wavelength division multiplexing, [6][7][8][9] photoelectric sensors, [10][11][12][13][14] liquid crystal displays, [15][16][17] and optical signal acquisition and processing. [18][19][20] The absorber can achieve single-band and multi-band absorption with different structural designs.…”
