56.4: A Head‐Up Display Illuminator Design and Virtual‐Image Estimation Method

Abstract: We proposed a novel lighting system with optical lens of the car head-up display (HUD) and the camera CCD estimation method of the projection virtual image. This novel optical lens lighting system shows up to 0.8 million nits BLU brightness with 3M DBEF4, 15° full viewing angle and better uniformity. Besides, we set up a new measurement method to estimate projection virtual image performance and the tolerance with human factor test is within 4 %. Finally, we have demonstrated AUO HUD combined with the optical … Show more

“…Metaverse has been a hot topic in recent years, but at the same time, AR/MR has also attracted attention, and began to find a suitable field for consumer electronics [1][2][3][4][5]. For example, a commercial transparent OLED displays (150 nit, about 40% transparency) may become HUD replacements or side-window displays [6].…”

“…Moreover, regarding different studies about driving benefits for HUD systems when using Audio-Visual (AV) feedbacks [5,15,17], these last ones were implemented on the HUD visual interface here proposed. Also, this interface was designed according to visual design patterns that have been established by previous studies, mainly for hierarchical and list-based menu structures [24,25].…”
