Virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) have been proposed as revolutionary applications for the next generation, especially in education. Many VR applications have been designed to promote learning via virtual environments and 360° video. However, due to the strict requirements of end-to-end latency and network bandwidth, numerous VR applications using 360° video streaming may not achieve a high-quality experience. To address this issue, we propose relying on tile-based 360° video streaming and the caching capacity in Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) to predict the field of view (FoV) in the head-mounted device, then deliver the required tiles. Prefetching tiles in MEC can save the bandwidth of the backend link and support multiple users. Smart caching decisions may reduce the memory at the edge and compensate for the FoV prediction error. For instance, caching whole tiles at each small cell has a higher storage cost compared to caching one small cell that covers multiple users. In this paper, we define a tile selection, caching, and FoV coverage model as the Tile Selection and Caching Problem and propose a heuristic algorithm to solve it. Using a dataset of real users’ head movements, we compare our algorithm to the Least Recently Used (LRU) and Least Frequently Used (LFU) caching policies. The results show that our proposed approach improves FoV coverage by 30% and reduces caching costs by 25% compared to LFU and LRU.

With the rapid development of mobile communication technology and intelligent applications, the quantity of mobile devices and data traffic in networks have been growing exponentially, which poses a great burden to networks and brings huge challenge to servicing user demand. Edge caching, which utilizes the storage and computation resources of the edge to bring resources closer to end users, is a promising way to relieve network burden and enhance user experience. In this paper, we aim to survey the edge caching techniques from a comprehensive and systematic perspective. We first present an overview of edge caching, summarizing the three key issues regarding edge caching, i.e., where, what, and how to cache, and then introducing several significant caching metrics. We then carry out a detailed and in-depth elaboration on these three issues, which correspond to caching locations, caching objects, and caching strategies, respectively. In particular, we innovate on the issue "what to cache", interpreting it as the classification of the "caching objects", which can be further classified into content cache, data cache, and service cache. Finally, we discuss several open issues and challenges of edge caching to inspire future investigations in this research area.

There has been a meteoric rise in the total amount of digital texts as a direct result of the proliferation of internet access. As a direct result of this, document clustering has evolved into a crucial method that must be used in order to successfully extract relevant information from big document collections. When employing the document clustering approach, documents are automatically sorted into groups whose members have a high degree of similarity to one another. These groups are created by applying the document clustering technique. Because they do not take into account the semantic linkages that exist between the texts, traditional clustering approaches are unable to provide an acceptable description of a collection of texts. This is because traditional clustering techniques. Document clusters, in which texts are ordered according to their meaning rather than their use of keywords, have been extensively utilized as a means of overcoming these challenges as a result of the incorporation of semantic information. This has been possible as a result of the fact that document clusters can group together related texts. In this investigation, we looked at a total of 27 distinct papers that were published over the previous five years and categorized the documents based on the semantic similarities that existed between the various pieces. A detailed literature evaluation is included to each and every one of the publications that were selected for further consideration. Comparative research is carried out on a wide variety of evaluation strategies, including as algorithms, similarity metrics, instruments, and processes. Following that, there is a drawn-out discussion that analyzes the similarities and differences between the activities.
