Abstract:The near-eye display for augmented display using a birefringent crystal has been proposed for providing the accommodation. Since the birefringent crystal has unique optical property that the refractive index is modulated according to the polarization state, it can be used for accommodative head-mounted display for augmented reality by making multiple image planes. We describe the two near-eye display systems using birefringent crystal and analyze the interpolation method between multiple image planes.
