A beginner’s guide to library association service

Abstract

Although new librarians are encouraged to become active in professional association service, they may not understand how this could benefit them or how to begin. This article explains the immediate and long-term benefits of service to the librarian. It also covers finding and selecting service opportunities, serving effectively in those roles, and documenting service activities.
