A Beta/ZSM-22 Zeolites-Based-Mixed Matrix Solid-Phase Dispersion Method for the Simultaneous Extraction and Determination of Eight Compounds with Different Polarities in Viticis Fructus by High-Performance Liquid Chromatography

Abstract: Viticis Fructus (VF) was named Manjingzi as a commonly used traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) targeting various pains and inflammation for more than 2000 years. To guarantee the quality of Viticis Fructus, a simple, quick and eco-friendly Beta/ZSM-22 zeolites-based-mixed matrix solid-phase dispersion method (B/Z-MMSPD) was established for simultaneous extraction and determination of eight compounds (two phenolic acids, two iridoid glycosides, vanillin and three flavonoids) with different polarities from Vitic… Show more

“…An industrial MCM-41-miniaturized MSPD extraction coupled with the response surface methodology was explored to determine six flavonoids in Pollen typhae by ultra-high performance liquid chromatography connected to a photodiode array detector. He et al [70] in their research tested seven types of adsorbents (Beta 40 (40, SiO 2 /Al 2 O 3 ratio), Beta 100 (100, SiO 2 /Al 2 O 3 ratio), ZSM-22 (70, SiO 2 /Al 2 O 3 ratio), ZSM-35 (60, SiO 2 /Al 2 O 3 ratio), ZSM-5 (300 nm), aluminum oxide-A, and C18). Ultimately, two zeolites Beta 40 and ZSM-22 were selected in the form of a mixture of sorbents for the simultaneous extraction and determination of eight compounds (two phenolic acids, two iridoid glycosides, vanillin, and three flavonoids) of different polarity from Viticis Fructus using high-performance liquid chromatography in combination with a diode array detector (HPLC-DAD).…”

“…A few neotype of materials were also applied as adsorbent or dispersant during the MSPD. Molecular-sieve-based MSPD has been proposed and developed for extracting the active compounds [19][20][21][22]. Molecular sieve has a 3D interconnecting network formed by silica and alumina tetrahedra as crystalline metal aluminosilicates.…”

“…simplicifolia Cham. or Verbenaceae, which were employed for eyesight-improving, nine-orifices benefiting, teeth-strengthening, delaying senility, and so on [22]. Cyclodextrin (CD), cyclic oligosaccharides, has the structure of external hydrophilic groups rim and internal hydrophobic cave with conical shape so that it could envelop the organic or inorganic molecules.…”

“…High‐performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) has higher accuracy and better reproducibility than high‐performance thin‐layer chromatography 11 . In previous studies, chromatographic methods were applied mainly to analyse some simple phenolic acids, 12,20 total flavonoids 21 and purified flavonoids, e.g. casticin.…”
