A bimetallic alloy anchored on biomass-derived porous N-doped carbon fibers as a self-supporting bifunctional oxygen electrocatalyst for flexible Zn–air batteries

Abstract:

A bimetallic alloy anchored on bamboo stick-derived N-doped carbon fibers was developed as a self-supporting bifunctional oxygen electrocatalyst for flexible Zn–air batteries.

“…C 1s peaks at 286.1 eV and 288.8 eV can be assigned as C−O/C−N and C=O, suggesting the successful nitrogen doping and the presence of oxidized functional groups [41,42] . Three peaks are observed in N 1s signal (Figure 5c), which are associated with three different nitrogen species, namely pyridinic‐N (398.6 eV), pyrrolic‐N (400.7 eV), and graphitic‐N (403.4 eV) [43] . The presence of graphitic N modulates the electronic distribution on the adjacent carbon atoms, which facilitates better absorption of oxygen [44] .…”

“…[33] In the N 1s XPS spectrum (Figure 2c), four peaks were observed at 398.3, 399.8, 401.0 and 402.5 eV, which could be attributed to pyridinic nitrogen, pyrrolic nitrogen, graphitic nitrogen and oxide nitrogen, respectively. [3,26] In the C 1s XPS spectrum (Figure 2d), three peaks of 284.6, 285.3 and 288.6 eV were observed, which could be attributed to the C-C, C-N and C=O groups, respectively (Figure 2d). [3] The survey scan XPS spectra as well as the C 1s and N 1s XPS spectrum for N-C wood were shown in Figure S4-S7, respectively.…”

“…Theoretical calculations indicated that the bimetal NPs embedded in NC materials facilitated charge redistribution at the interfaces, causing electron transfer from metals to NC, thus favoring the enhancement in the ORR and OER activities. [ 84,85 ] Several kinds of bimetal or trimetal NPs coated by NC materials have been investigated for the OER/ORR catalysts, such as CoFe@NCNTs, [ 85–88 ] CoFe−Co@PNC, [ 89,90 ] CoNi@NCNT, [ 91 ] NiFe/N‐CNT, [ 92,93 ] NiFe@N‐CFs, [ 94,95 ] Ni 3 Fe/NPG, [ 96–98 ] Mn/Fe‐HIB‐MOF, [ 99 ] CoCu−NC, [ 100 ] FeNiCo@NC‐P, [ 101 ] and Mn/Co−N−C. [ 102 ] FeCo NCs with different Fe/Co ratios coupled with NCNTs were investigated in terms of Fe/Co mass ratios and their effects on catalytic activity.…”
