A Case Report of Majocchi's Granuloma Associated with Combined Therapy of Topical Steroids and Adalimumab

Abstract: Currently, tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-alpha) inhibitors are widely used for many autoimmune disorders. However, they cause an immunocompromised status that sometimes leads to many cutaneous side effects including atypical infections. Herein, we report the first case of adalimumab-related Majocchi's granuloma.A 43-year-old Taiwanese male patient with chronic plaque-type psoriasis developed numerous tender nodules 1 month after adalimumab injection. The nodules responded poorly to bacterial folliculitis tr… Show more

“…Although these drugs can reduce the side effects of steroids, an MG patient who had used adalimumab was reported. 49 Similarly, BRAF inhibitors (e.g. vemurafenib) are considered promising treatments for aggressive skin tumors; however, they may also facilitate MG development.…”

“…These diseases can modify the immune system, and together with the strategies of the fungus for evading the host's immune system, may favor development of the disease [1,5,12]. Associations with CARD9 gene polymorphisms (via caspase associated with altered Th-17 response) or TNFα inhibitors have been previously described as immune evasion-related factors [13].…”
