Abstract:Often affecting one side, Bell's palsy, also known as "acute facial palsy of unknown cause," is a common cranial neuropathy that results in abrupt, complete paralysis or face muscle paresis. Over the period of 48 hours, the condition may get worse. It is brought on by damage or inflammation to the 7th cranial nerve, the face nerve, or any of its branches along its course, primarily in the bony canal.
