A City Parking Integration System Combined with Cloud Computing Technologies and Smart Mobile Devices

Abstract: The current study applied cloud computing technology and smart mobile devices combined with a streaming server for parking lots to plan a city parking integration system. It is also equipped with a parking search system, parking navigation system, parking reservation service, and car retrieval service. With this system, users can quickly find parking lots near their destination, using various parking servers and the system center to connect to and integrate the cloud server. The computing power of the cloud se… Show more

“…These services are offered through remote resources located in large data centres. They are characterized by their high computational and storage resources [ 39 ], on-demand services, redundancy, among relevant features. Here we can distinguish three main models listed by the National Institute of Standards and Technologies (NIST), which are SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS.…”

For instance, Yeh et al [ 39 ] developed a Cloud platform for parking services (e.g., search parking places, reservation, navigation), providing a useful and efficient system to end-users which satisfies the need for parking systems.…”

“…Reference [65] proposes a technique by correlating Global Positioning System (GPS) data and local GIS information to face the challenges of latency and limitations of bandwidth when transmitting the location of vehicles in Intelligent Transportation Systems. As GIS and IoT integration examples, in [66], using GIS, Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID), and cloud computing technologies, a parking navigation system is presented which facilitates finding parking lots for users near their destinations. After processing the gathered data which is converted into GIS-supported formats, users can be informed through their smart mobile devices whether there is an empty parking lot at the parking and if so, the system will display GIS images of empty parking lots and the navigation to them.…”

“…1), etc. Smart-phone based systems: Smart-phone based systems [9] are an approach for informing drivers about available parking spots and guiding them to alternate car parks [10]. Information can be passed to other drivers by manually marking parking spot free/used via mobile app [11,12] or automatically by some mobile sensing system [13].…”
