“…Some previous studies have suggested that awareness and behavior might be influenced by family, friends, and colleagues as well as by cultural values and relevant policies (Bayulken and Huisingh, 2015;Chan et al, 2010;Daae and Boks, 2015;Sidiras and Koukios, 2004). Most strikingly, problems related to the concept of "face" 2 and group pressures have been found important to individual behaviors in Chinese society.…”

“…However, the essence of these studies are similar, namely proposing a general framework or methodology for product design to persuade users to change their behaviors. However, explicitly making design suggestions for all kinds of product design is not easy because behavior change involves various psychological and social factors (Lockton et al [10], Webb et al [11], Daae and Boks [12]). Shih and Hsin [13] tried to overcome the difficulty in establishing relationship between design and behavior change based on two ideas: (1) establishing relationship may be easier if one narrows down the scope and focuses on persuasive design for a specific type of products and (2) instead of establishing explicit rules to describe the relationship, case-based reasoning (CBR) may be helpful by properly retrieving past successful cases and getting useful suggestions.…”

“…However, sustainable design has faced many challenges, such as in the case of technically-optimized products which are often expected to change user behavior, but are not used enough to result in permanent behavior change [54]. Human behavior is difficult to predict and can be affected by many factors [33]. As a result, it has been suggested that design interventions are effective coping strategies [54][55][56].…”

“…DfSB is intended primarily to lead to increased sustainable behavior [30]. Personal needs and perceptions play an important role in product design development [36], which is consistent with user-centered design patterns [33]. Therefore, this study follows the design process of sustainable development behavior that includes exploration, generation, and evaluation [71].…”
