The condylar guidance value (CGV) measurement constitutes an important part of a holistic prosthodontic treatment plan, with horizontal CGVs (HCGVs) and lateral CGVs (LCGVs) being two of the most prominently recognized. This systematic review aimed at evaluating the efficacy of two different types of CGV measurement protocols—articulators (both arcon and non-arcon) and panoramic radiographs. Additionally, it attempts to determine which of the mentioned methods performs better across several parameters. Several important web databases were searched using search terms derived from medical subject headings (MeSH), using keywords linked to “Arcon articulator”, “Condylar guidance angle”, “non-arcon articulator”, “Panoramic x-ray” and “Radiographic examination”, which constituted the first step in the study selection strategy. After completion, the search strategy which initially turned up to 831 papers, eventually ended up with 13 studies. The review and subsequent meta-analysis revealed that panoramic radiographs had noticeably greater efficacy in terms of the CGVs as compared to the articulators in the majority of the studies. Within the articulators, the arcon types recorded slightly higher CGVs than the non-arcon variety owing to the precision of jaw movement simulation in the former. However, further studies are required to validate these findings and establish more precise guidelines for the use of CGV measurement protocols in prosthodontic practice.

Objetivo: Comparar el ángulo de la guía condílea sagital obtenida del registro radiográfico y clínico en pacientes dentados. Materiales y métodos: La muestra estuvo conformada por un grupo único de estudio de 32 pacientes, en el que se evaluó la radiografía lateral estricta y los registros posicionales: en relación céntrica, registro protrusivo a 5 mm en lateralidad derecha y registro protrusivo a 5 mm en lateralidad izquierda. Con el registro posicional del arco facial se articuló el modelo superior, con el registro posicional en relación céntrica se articuló el modelo inferior, con los registros laterales protrusivos de los lados derecho e izquierdo se obtuvo la medida del ángulo de la guía condílea sagital para la programación del articulador semiajustable. El plan estadístico en la presente investigación utilizó el programa SPSS versión 24, la normalidad fue evaluada usando el test de Shapiro-Wilk, también se realizaron las pruebas de T de Student y correlación de Pearson. Resultados: Se determinó estadísticamente que el género y la edad influyen en la medida del ángulo de la guía condílea sagital. El método radiográfico presentó un ángulo de guía condílea de 35,69 ±5,18 y con el método clínico fue 35,69 ± 5,16 (p > 0,05). La prueba de correlación de Pearson sí mostró una correlación importante entre ambos métodos r = 0,948, p < 0,001. Conclusiones: Existe alta correlación en las medidas obtenidas del ángulo de la guía condílea sagital con los registros radiográficos y clínicos; esta concordancia permitiría reemplazar un método por el otro.

The aim of the study is to access the types of arch tracing achieved using tracer in a prosthetic system (BPS). Assessing the relation plays an important role in the fabrication of complete denture. Gothic arch tracing is one of the methods used to achieve relation in complete denture patients. The types of the arrow forms include the classical pointed form, classical flat form, weak form, asymmetrical form, miniature form, vertical line extending beyond the arrow point. The variations in achieving arrow tracing for a complete denture patient depends on mandibular movements. Data collection was done from DIAS (dental hospital management system) which is an electronic record management system and details such as , types of arrow point achieved and type of tracer used was obtained and tabulated. Further the data were by statistical tests (chi-square analysis) using SPSS software (write the version). The typical arrow point tracing was common in both sexes. Females show more variation in tracing arrow types of tracing were more commonly seen in females. The chi-square analysis reveals an insight value of p> 0.005. The typical arrow point tracing form is seen in both males and females. Other forms like atypical, double arrow are commonly seen in females and only miniature forms are seen in males.
