A CNspecific turn-on phosphorescent probe with probable application for enzymatic assay and as an imaging reagent

Abstract: A new "turn-on" luminescence probe for imaging the uptake of 0.2 ppm inorganic CN(-) in live HeLa cells as well as for probing the CN(-) generation through an enzymatic process in a virtual aqueous medium at appropriate pH.

“…Notably, luminescent sensor 38 containing a Cu 2+ -DPA moiety incorporated into an Ir 3+ -polypyridyl luminophore is capable of cyanide detection in aqueous environments at concentrations lower than the standard safety limits, and in live cells pre-exposed to a 0.2 ppm aqueous cyanide solution [77]. Yoon and coworkers introduced sensor 39 for in vivo imaging using nematode C. elegans as the testing organism.…”

“…Photochromic materials, in particular, are of considerable interest as the regulation of their activity using light allows both spatial and temporal control without any physical contact. Taking advantage of these unique properties, researchers are actively looking at the applications of photochromic materials in consumer devices, biomedical devices, electronics, and energy storage …”
