“…The synergistic effect of biologically active compounds occurring in leaves of C. avellana collected in Ukraine has been invoked to explain the high anticonvulsant properties shown by the dry aqueous extract [71]. In fact, in mice subjected to pentylenetetrazoleinduced seizures the aqueous extract of hazelnut leaves, as well as the reference drug sodium valproate, showed the most pronounced anticonvulsant activity respect to the other hydroalcoholic extracts tested, resulting in a significant increase in the latency period of the first seizure occurrence, reducing lethality and duration of the convulsive period in the group.…”
