A Comparative Study of Augmentor Wing, Ejector Nozzle, and Power Jet Flap Low-Noise STOL Concepts

Abstract: A noise and performance comparison of these STOL airplane configurations is summarized. Aircraft were sized for a 2000-ft takeoff field length, 150 passengers, and a STOL range of 500 miles. A discussion of thrust augmentation ratios, airplane “thumb-print” sizing, thrust requirements, thrust lapse rates, static test configurations, 500-ft SL noise comparisons, and noise “footprints” is presented for each concept.
