Abstract:Background: The hemodynamic changes during awake fibreoptic intubation (AFOI) are attributed to patient’s anxiety, poor topicalization of the airway, excessive sedation, lack of expertise, pain, prolonged time to intubation, stimulation of oropharyngeal structures, and jaw thrust to aid intubation.
