Abstract:BACKGROUNDEpidural anaesthesia can be used as a sole anaesthetic for procedures involving the lower limbs, pelvis, perineum and lower abdomen. Different local anaesthetics are used for epidural anaesthesia, most popular being Lignocaine, Bupivacaine and now Ropivacaine.
