Cats can host an array of parasite species. This is particularly evident in sub-Saharan Africa, where climatic conditions favour parasites and their vectors, and pets are given little medical attention. The presence of parasites in cats results in significant morbidity in these companion animals. Proximity of infected cats to humans also favours zoonotic transmissions. This study aimed at ascertaining the prevalence and diversity of parasites in cats. A total of 90 feline faecal samples were examined using floatation techniques. Overall, 75 cats (83.3%) were infected with at least one of six parasite species. Toxocara ova were found in 35 (38.9%), hookworm ova in 20 (22.2%), Isospora in 19 (21.1%), Capillaria in 17 (18.9%), pinworm eggs in 5 (5.6%) and flukes in 4 (4.4%) cats respectively. Sex of cats was a significant determinant of infections. This study demonstrates environmental contamination with feline parasites of zoonotic importance, thus necessitating a One-Health surveillance to minimize zoonotic risks from these companion animals. Cats play active roles in the transmission of multiple parasites of zoonotic importance in Ghana.

There is a large global trend toward the use of medicinal herbs for the treatment of diabetes, and many people employ complementary and alternative medicine. The objective of the study was to provide comprehensive information on the effects of Nigella sativa on lipid profile, glucose level, and body weight in diabetic-induced rats. This is a comprehensive review carried out through PubMed, Science Direct, Google scholar and Springer and other Scientific Electronic Library Online databases, using the keywords; “N. sativa”, “black seed”, “diabetes”, “glucose”, “lipid”, “Weight”, and “insulin” associated with the Boolean operator “AND”. At first, 241 articles from 2000 to 2022 were discovered. Following the application of the specified inclusion and exclusion criteria, 21 papers were still available, and 15 underwent complete reading, after which all were included in the study. According to their findings, N. sativa has a variety of possible mechanisms for controlling hyperglycemia and abnormal lipid profiles, including its antioxidant properties and influences on insulin secretion, glucose absorption and body weight. However, further clinical studies are required to determine the N. sativa therapeutic benefits, as well as the kind and dose that work best for managing diabetes and its consequences. This study determine the prevalence and protozoa infection degree of gastrointestinal in stray cats at Public Health Center and Traditional Market of Madiun City. 80 fecal sample collected. Fecal samples examined with direct smear, sedimentation, and floatation method. Positive samples calculated using the Lucient-Brumpt method. The result of the examination in Public Health Center showed that 37,5% stray cat infected by Isospora sp., Entamoeba sp., and Cryptosporidium sp., with 1167.33a±168.373 infection degree. The examination result in Traditional Market showed that 62,5% stray cat infected by Isospora sp., Entamoeba sp., and Cryptosporidium sp., with 1186.00a±148.577 infection degree. The result of Chi Square analysis obtained p<0,05 indicated that there were significant differences between stray cat including faecal collection location, age, type of cat and faecal condition. The result of Kruskal Wallis analysis of the degree infection obtained p>0,05 indicated that there were no significant differences.
