A Comparative Study of Some Spectrophotometric and Colorimetric Procedures for the Determination of Serum Glutamic-oxaloacetic and Glutamic-pyruvic Transaminase in Hepatic Diseases

Abstract: Summary. A comparative study has been carried out on the reliability of methods for the determination of both GOT and GPT in serum in the diagnosis of hepatitis. The conventional spectrophotometric methods used by Karmen, Wrobletvski and LaDue and the optimum spectrophotometric methods of Bergmeyer and Bernt have been studied. In addition, the colorimetric methods of Reitman and Frankel, of Reitman modified by King, and of Tonhazy et al., have been examined. The optimum spectrophotometric methods of Bergmeyer … Show more

“…The measure of ALT and AST is based on peroxidase method 16 , and ALB based on the bromocresol green method 17 . The analyzer quantifies the concentration of the substance to be measured by capturing the color's change of the test card 18,19 . For the photoelectric detection module, the core of a POCT device, we specially designed a 4-channel micro-two-photon dual-light source diffuse photochemical sensor which is only of the size of a coin.…”

“…A variety of analytical approaches have been used to determine the ALT level in liver function tests, such as colorimetry [ 4 , 5 , 6 ], spectrophotometry [ 7 , 8 ], chemiluminescence [ 9 ], chromatography [ 10 ], fluorescence [ 11 , 12 , 13 ], electrochemical techniques [ 14 , 15 , 16 , 17 , 18 ], etc. When techniques like fluorescence, chromatography, or chemiluminescence are used, careful conductions of tests are required since tests could be affected by environmental factors (e.g., pH, light intensity, temperature, ionic strength, interactions in solutions, etc. )…”
