Abstract:The authors have compared microsporogenesis in normal anthers of the "blind" mutant with that observed in "corolla-tip" anthers. A correlation was found between flower bud size and the stage of microsporogenesis in the two anther types and the course of the microsporogenesis was not identical. In preliminary trials using thin epidermal cell layer culture, flowers were obtained with identical morphological form to those present on the mother plants. Differentiated pollen grains were observed in normal and in "c… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
