“…These congenital anomalies happen 1 in every 500 to 1000 births at the various ethnic groups and geographic regions (Dixon et al, 2011; Alfwaress et al, 2017; Sharif et al, 2019). These defects are one of the most common congenital anomalies with the multifactorial inheritance of threshold character (Abdollahi Fakhim et al, 2019; Alswairki et al, 2019; Sakran et al, 2020). It is suggested that the multiple genes and environmental factors are associated with the formation of this anomaly (Alswairki et al, 2019; Abdollahi Fakhim et al, 2020).…”

“…There was an extended soft palate, replacement of divergenic palatal muscle to the right position, and avoidance of median scar on the velum that could reduce anteroposterior shrinkage post surgery. 6 In this study, two flaps push back palatoplasty were chosen because it was a commonly used technique in Cleft Centre Unit of Dental Hospital of Padjadjaran University and this may be considered a limitations in our study. Thus, it is recommended to have further research with other palatoplasty technique such as Furlow Z-plasty.…”

“…The study by Sakran, et al stated that children's cooperation and validity of the perceptual assessment result can be achieved if the child is older than three years old, because during this age, a child is able to follow instructions better. 6 Research sampling was done using purposive sampling method. Patients with oronasal fistula, post-recurrent palatoplasty, having a mental retardation history, hearing disorder or was having flu was excluded in this study.…”

“…Thus, avoiding relaxing incision on the hard palate during palatoplasty started to be emphasized in a functional cleft palate repair, but in return, the indication for repairing wide clefts was limited owing to the absence of relaxing incision. Hence, controversies are still going on regarding the most effective procedure for various cleft palate patterns 6,7 …”
