Abstract: Two oestradiol aptamers as receptors on carbon nanotube sensors are compared. We show differences in sensor behaviour between the aptamers that are not explained by published KD values, which aid in understanding and optimising these sensors.

“…Previous work in our group has used CNTs from bucky papers dispersed in dichlorobenzene (DCB) for network deposition which results in films of bundled CNTs which were used as the active channel of CNT FET aptasensors 6,9,[16][17][18] . Here, in this work, surfactant dispersions have been used to achieve networks comprised of individual CNTs as opposed to bundles 137 . For this thesis networks of individual CNTs were utilised to allow for more control of the metallic 2.…”

“…Denaturing referring to the separation of the individual aptamers from each other. After denaturing the vial was placed in an ice bath for 10 min to cause the aptamers to fold up on themselves 6,[16][17][18]137 , immediately prior to placing the solution on the chip. A total of 100 µL of the aptamer solution was deposited on each chip and was left to functionalize overnight in a covered dish in the fridge at 3°C to avoid evaporation.…”
