“…The information from the literature published to date is limited and the mechanism modifying the immune system is not well-known. Echinacea may have immunostimulant effects, such as increasing cytokine and immunoglobulin (Ig) production (7,8). Unsaturated N-alkylamide lipids, the main constituent of echinacea, have been suggested to play a role as potential anti-inflammatory and proinflammatory effects (9,10).…”

“…It was reported that echinacea alkylamides modulate tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) gene expression via cannabinoid receptor type 2 (CB2) and multiple signal transduction pathways (9). Some experimental studies have shown that TNF-α expression was higher in animals who received diet containing echinacea, while some showed lower TNF-α production in echinacea-fed animals (8,11). Yamada et al (8) observed increased cytokine (IL-2 and interferon gamma) production from T helper 1 cells with dietary echinacea and significant increases in the serum IgG level and all Ig production in the spleen.…”

“…Overall, the humoral immunity of animals after administration of the Biofield Energy Treated test formulation was altered, which might be due to the constituents of the test formulation such as ashwagandha [34,35] and minerals such as zinc, selenium, and magnesium [36] have been reported for beneficial effect of immune function. Thus, the results exhibited significant alteration in the levels of IgG and IgM in the Biofield Energy Treated test formulation as compared with the disease control and untreated test formulation.…”

“…Additionally, the levels of IgM and IgG were reduced by 28.57% and 13.39%, respectively in the positive control (levamisole) group (G5) compared with the G2. Yamada et al had reported that ashwagandha enhance the immune function by increasing immunoglobulin production [36]. Experimental studies reported that an influence of zinc nutriture on the balance between lymphocyte TH1 elements and functions (cell-mediated immunity) and TH2 elements and functions (humoral immunity).…”
