The contemporary society is a fast developing, technologically advanced as well as information circulation society, people communicate more closely with each other and live more conveniently, and big data is the product of this high-tech era. The development of big data has given a strong impetus to urban planning and smart cities. Through the combination of big data technology and Internet of Things technology, modern people's lives are more closely integrated with the network, which improves people's work and life a lot. In today's world, big data technology has been applied to urban road traffic, social medical and urbanization management to achieve comprehensive management, which plays a very important role in the development of smart cities. This research focuses on the development direction of smart cities in the era of big data through the literature method. Combining the understanding of the literature and the actual development of Chinese cities, the research proposed a model of sustainable smart eco-city combined with renewable energy to provide reference for the development of smart eco-city.
