A Compilation of Silicon and Thirty One Trace Elements Measured in the Natural River Water Reference Material SLRS‐4 (NRC‐CNRC)

Abstract: The natural river water certified reference material SLRS‐4 (NRC‐CNRC, National Research Council‐Conseil National de Recherches Canada) has been routinely analysed for major and trace elements by six French laboratories. Most measurements were made using inductively coupled plasma‐mass spectrometry. For silicon and thirty one trace elements (rare earth elements, Ag, B, Br, Cs, Ga, Ge, Li, P, Pd, Rb, Se, Th, Ti, Tl, W, Y and Zr), no certified values are assigned by NRC‐CNRC. We propose some compilation values a… Show more

“…The results are presented in Table 3 ranged from 348 ng L -1 (Ce) to 1.8 ng L -1 (Tm) and the precisions (2 × RSD) ranged from 4.5% (Nd) to 43% (Yb) (N = 5). The values were consistent with the reported values (Yeghicheyan et al, 2001;Shimamura et al, 2007;Dick et al, 2008) and those for non-diluted samples.…”

“…Indium and rhenium were used as external standards. The international geostandard SLRS-4 (Riverine Water Reference Material for Trace Metals certified by the National Research Council of Canada) was used to check the accuracy and reproducibility of each analysis (Yeghicheyan et al, 2001). We obtained a good agreement between replicated measurements of SLRS-4 and the certified values (relative difference < 10% SD on repeated measurements), except for B and P (30%).…”

“…P is not certified in this CRM. An indicative concentration was published in Yeghicheyan et al (2001), but a more recent value [P] 4 was retrieved from the SLRS-5/SLRS-4 concentration ratio R P published in Heimburger et al (2013), and its concentration [P] 5 in SLRS-5 published in Yeghicheyan et al (2013). These values are respectively equal to R P = 1.43 ± 0.02 and [P] 5 = 8.2 ± 3 µg L −1 .…”

“…The following elements were determined using the atomic emission line (wavelength in brackets, nm): Ca (422.673), Sr (407.771), Ba (455.403), Mn (257.61),Fe (259.94),Al (396.152), and P (213.628). The instrument was calibrated on each line using standard solutions, and was checked five times with the certified reference material (CRM) SLRS-4 (NRC, Canada, certified values reported in Yeghicheyan et al, 2001. P is not certified in this CRM.…”
