In order to provide more comfortable living space for the elderly, this paper proposes an interior design method of aging housing based on intelligent home system of Internet of things sensors. Taking the residential area as the background environment, create the living space and environment for the elderly through intelligent means. There is a close relationship between the intelligent system in the room and the management center of the residential area and other users in the residential area. Firstly, through the theoretical research on the concepts of home-based elderly care and intelligent elderly care, the development process of intelligent elderly care is described. Finally, in the “people-oriented” concept, summarize and analyze the design methods of intelligent elderly care housing. The application results show that the interior form of the residence, the entrance of the lobby, the bedroom, and the kitchen should be designed for aging and intellectualization, respectively. For example, the clear width of the main passage of the bedroom should be greater than 900 mm, and its direction should be to the long side leading to the bed. The layout of furniture should consider leaving 1500 ∗ 1500 mm wheelchair rotation space to facilitate the activities of the elderly. Conclusion. This method can meet the physiological and psychological needs of the elderly.

A Novel Mobile App-based Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation Therapy for the Management of Knee Osteoarthritis: Results From an Extension Study of a Randomized, Double-blind, Sham-controlled, Multicenter Trial

Background: Mobile app-based neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) is a promising treatment of knee osteoarthritis as previously demonstrated in a 12-week, randomized, double-blind, shamcontrolled, multicenter trial (parent study). Methods: Sixty-four of the 253 patients with knee osteoarthrosis who completed the 12-week parent study were enrolled in a 14-week extension study during which they continued to receive double-blind, home-based NMES (two 20-minute daily sessions, 5 d/wk) with either the original device ("active NMES") or a low-voltage version ("sham NMES"). All subjects who enrolled in the extension study comprised the intent-to-treat population and subjects who applied NMES (compliance monitored through the mobile app and a remote portal) for at least 2,800 minutes (14-week device usage) comprised the perprotocol therapy compliant population. Results: In the per-protocol therapy compliant population, the active NMES group (n = 21) had a higher reduction in Visual Analog Scale Nominated Activity (64.7% versus 24.3%, P = 0.020) and Visual Analog Scale Nominated Activity improvement $50% (76.2% versus 12.5%, P = 0.002) than the sham NMES group (n = 8). Outcomes were not markedly different between groups in the intent-to-treat population. Discussion: Applying NMES therapy for an additional 14 weeks (totaling 26 weeks) resulted in notable and clinically meaningful pain relief when patients were fully compliant with NMES. Background Mobile health (mHealth) technology has been proposed as a method of improving post-discharge surveillance. Little is known about how mHealth has been used to track patients after surgery and whether its use is associated with differences in postoperative recovery. Methods Three databases (PubMed, MEDLINE and the Cochrane Central Registry of Controlled Trials) were searched to identify studies published between January 1999 and February 2021. Mobile health was defined as any smartphone or tablet computer capable of electronically capturing health-related patient information and transmitting these data to the clinical team. Comparable outcomes were pooled via meta-analysis with additional studies compiled via narrative review. The quality of each study was assessed based on Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development, and Evaluation (GRADE) criteria. Results Forty-five articles met inclusion criteria. While the majority of devices were designed to capture general health information, others were specifically adapted to the expected outcomes or potential complications of the index procedure. Exposure to mHealth was associated with fewer emergency department visits (odds ratio 0.42, 95 per cent c.i. 0.23 to 0.79) and readmissions (odds ratio 0.47, 95 per cent c.i. 0.29 to 0.77) as well as accelerated improvements in quality of life after surgery. There were limited data on other postoperative outcomes. Conclusion Remote home monitoring via mHealth is feasible, adaptable, and may even promote more effective postoperative care. Given the rapid expansion of mHealth, physicians and policymakers need to understand these technologies better so that they can be integrated into high-quality clinical care.
