A dynamical approach to time dilation and length contraction

Abstract: Simple models of Iength and time measuring instruments are studied in order to see under what conditions a relativistic description of the d1,'namics of accelerated motion can be consistent with th-e kinematic prescriptions of Lorentz contraction and time dilation. The outcomes obtained for the measuring rod are compared with a thought experirnent proposed by Dewan and Beran.
