A Flexible Control Strategy for Shore-to-Ship Power System in Terms of Grid-Connected and Off-Grid Switch

Abstract: There are promising application prospects for applying the shore power technology to the ships in the port for the purpose of pollution prevention. However, the grid-connection of the shore power supply to the ship power grid leads to current surges, damages the ship power consumption equipment, and results in the instability of the ship power grid system, which will seriously affect the reliability of the operation of the ship power grid system. In order to address this problem, the mathematical model of virt… Show more

“…The need for financial support for OPS from public funds (Wang et al, 2021a) is also raised, because of the environmental benefits for the region and local communities (Ballini and Bozzo, 2015). Moreover, a valuable source of information for stakeholders includes studies devoted to building strategy for OPS System (Yu et al, 2017) and control strategy for OPS (Ji et al, 2018) presenting also barriers and drivers to the implementation of OPS (Williamsson et al, 2022). Finally, there are also works related to energy management in seaports (Acciaro et al, 2014) including the management of OPS systems and optimization of daily use of OPS (Yu et al, 2022).…”

“…In terms of power management of port distribution network, literature [15] summarized the comprehensive management method of shore power system from three aspects: insulation monitoring, shore power equipment safety improvement technology and fault diagnosis, so as to improve the safety and stability of shore power system. Aiming at the problem that the connection of shore power to the ship's power grid causes current surges, damages the ship's electrical equipment, and leads to the instability of the ship's power grid system, literature [16] proposed a flexible grid-connected control method for shore power based on virtual synchronous generators. The output characteristics of the shore power supply can match the characteristics of the ship's generator, so as to realize the smooth operation of the shore power system.…”
