A functional different immune capacity in cattle is associated with higher mastitis incidence

Abstract: A BVD vaccine with novel production technology and adjuvant was introduced to improve immune responses against BVD. However, 5-10% of vaccinated cattle produced pathogenic antibodies, which transferred bovine neonatal pancytopenia (BNP) via colostrum to almost any calf given respective colostrum. Diseased calves had a very high lethality rate of 90%.
