A gated radiometer for plasma afterglow study

Abstract: A stabilization scheme has been devised which involves the application of impulsive torques synchronized with the spin of the vehicle. Infrared sensors and a plasma pinch engine are used.For a particular satellite, which is to have orbit plane, the anticipated torque environ-its spin axis accurately oriented normal to the ment is estimated; detailed dynamic analysis of the gyroscopic motion is made and, finally, design parameters for the system are derived.
