A General Framework of Crime Determination and the Controversial Use of Crime in the Efficiency Analysis

Abstract: Using crime as production input or output has been reported in many assessments of police efficiency. This discussion Preprint evaluates this controversial use based on a general framework of crime and comments from the scientific literature.
