Information and communication technologies are becoming an increasingly important part of everyday life, as they facilitate many activities, mainly in the world of work, but also in scientific research and education. At present, informatics is one of the fastest growing sectors of the national economy. This development has had a significant impact on improving the quality of transport and transportation processes. The article is focused on the railway transport. It deals with the possibilities of planning the shifts of the train personnel and circulation of the vehicles. It describes the background of the topic. The scientific acquittance lies on the methodology proposed by authors. It presents a new idea of creating the shifts and circulations while being based on the current state and mathematical methods.

A multi-modal corridor accommodates multiple modes of energy and transportation infrastructure within the same right-of-way. The existing literature on corridor routing in raster space often focuses on one mode with no consideration of the width. This is not a realistic assumption, especially if multiple modes are to co-exist within the same wide right-of-way. Moreover, newer routing methods that consider corridor width cannot take into account multi-modality and the arrangement of modes within a corridor. We developed two multi-modal wide-corridor routing methods using raster data. In the first method, the cost rasters of all modes are weighted and aggregated into a single composite on which a wide LCP is found. This wide LCP is then divided among the modes based on the desired arrangement. The second method uses a directed transformed graph in which the weight of each edge is calculated using different layers of cost data based on the edge direction, the desired widths and arrangement of the modes. Comparative analyses using synthetic datasets show the superior performance of the second proposed method in finding a muti-modal corridor in comparison with the first mode, and in finding a single-modal corridor when compared to the existing methods.

For effective response to forest fires, the period of time necessary for the firefighting team to reach the fire site should not exceed the critical response time, where the fire is more likely to be taken under control. For this reason, the optimum route that allows the team to reach the fire site by a fire truck within the shortest time possible should be determined. Computer-aided methods such as the road network analysis are widely used in the solution of such transportation problems that require the shortest path analysis. In this study, the locations of the existing road networks and firefighting team were examined using GIS techniques in order to determine the optimum route that will provide the promptest access to the fire site. The study was carried out in the Adana Forest Enterprise Directorate, where first degree fire-sensitive forests are located. There are three firefighting teams located in the boundaries of the study area. The sites in the study area where previously occurred forest fires (15), which burned 1 ha or more forest areas, were evaluated as potential fire sites. The analysis results showed that 64,12% of the forest areas in the study area was reached by the firefighting teams within 20 minutes, which is the critical response time for first degree fire sensitive forests. It was found that the teams could reach 12 potential fire sites within the critical response time. This result revealed the necessity to establish new firefighting teams in the study area. In addition, it is thought that improving the road network density in the study area by building new roads or increasing the truck travel speed by improving the conditions of existing roads will help to solve the problem.
