A green ideology in Asian emerging economies: From environmental policy and sustainable development

Abstract: This panel study investigates the relationship between green logistics indices, economic, environmental, and social factors in the perspective of Asian emerging economies. This study adopted Fully Modified OLS (FMOLS) Model and Dynamic OLS (DOLS) Model methods to test the research hypothesis, catering the problem of endogeneity and serial correlation. The results suggest that logistics operations, particularly LPI2 (efficiency of customs clearance processes), LPI4 (quality of logistics services), and LPI5 (tra… Show more

“…Setting up the concept of ecological civilization, protecting the ecological environment throughout the whole process of economic development, promoting the coordinated development of economy and ecology [47]. Second, governments can encourage green ideologies such as Kahn, Sharif, Golpîra et al [8] by giving financial subsidies to businesses and tax incentives. Encouraging enterprises to fully consider the requirements of low-carbon economic development in the process of production and operation activities, thereby reducing the environmental pollution caused by production and operation activities.…”

“…Kim and Han [6] and Murphy and Poist [7] argued that greenhouse gas emissions such as carbon dioxide and energy consumption such as fossils in the world are largely caused by the development of logistics system. According to a study of the World Health Organization and the International Energy Agency, Khan, Sharif, Golpîra et al [8] pointed out that the development of the global logistics industry is heavily dependent on energy, especially fossil fuels, thus causing serious ecological problems. For example, the logistics industry may generate carbon dioxide and other pollutants during transportation, packaging and storage [9].…”

“…The transportation sector especially logistics operations majorly depend on fossil fuels, resulting in large carbon footprint on the environment. Based on World Bank data, the shift into low-carbon energy such as renewable energy in logistics operations prove to minimise carbon emission and other greenhouse gases, create sustainable environment as well as improve economic performance [5,6]. In 2018, the global CO 2 emissions increased to 37.1 Gt which is forecasted to rise by about 10% in 2040, majorly due to the combustion of fossil fuels from industrial processes and transportation sector [7].…”

“…In 2018, the global CO 2 emissions increased to 37.1 Gt which is forecasted to rise by about 10% in 2040, majorly due to the combustion of fossil fuels from industrial processes and transportation sector [7]. Hence, the impact of carbon emissions from logistics operations on the environment, global warming, climate change and health can be reduced remarkably by adopting renewable energy and green vehicles [6]. Therefore, government policy and legislations such as the Paris Agreement of 2015 are necessary to drive research and development into low-carbon energy and environmental sustainability.…”
