A Guide for Industrial Wastewater Treatment Selection

Abstract

Introduction:
 Water pollution has become an alarming health crisis in the world. It includes organic compounds that are hazardous to human health. Only Pakistan produces 962,335 million gallons’ wastewater annually. Industries include 288,326 million gallons’. Treatment of wastewater started in early 1800s. In 2008, United States had 14,780 municipal wastewater treatment plants.
 Aims and Objectives:
 This review comprises the merits and demerits of already existed wastewater treatment methods. It also describes the modern techniques, Anaerobic Ammonium Oxidation (ANNAMOX) and Anaerobic Membrane Bioreactor (ANMBR), to treat wastewater.
 Conclusion: In the end, some recommendations will help industries to choose an innovative and effective technique for wastewater treatment.
